FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Antek HealthWare Participates in California HealthCare Foundation ELINCS Project
Baltimore, MD - March 5, 2007 - Antek HealthWare, LLC, developer of LabDAQ Laboratory Information System (LIS), is participating in a project with the California
HealthCare Foundation to implement the EHR-Lab Interoperability and Connectivity Standards (ELINCS) project by developing a solution in LabDAQ, LIS that meets
the ELINCS specification standards.
ELINCS is a messaging specification that was designed with the intention of standardizing the electronic delivery of test results from the laboratory
to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Standardizing information is the key to successful communication between software and hardware from multiple
vendors. This initiative is intended to demonstrate the benefits of real-time laboratory results reporting. The foundations goal for this initiative
are to support clinical decision making in ambulatory practice settings, improve the ELINCS specification for broad usability, and create models for
adoption in diverse settings.
The ELINCS specification is based on the HL7 standard and the LOINC coding standard (Logical Observation Identifiers names and Codes). LOINC codes
were used to help ensure that the information communicated to the EMR from LIS is certified to be compliant with ELINCS standards.
LabDAQ version 3.5 is being utilized as the Laboratory Information System at a pilot site in northern California. This large internal medicine
practice has been using LabDAQ since 1993. The software has been recently upgraded to allow for this sophisticated connectivity. "Antek is proud to be
on the forefront of promoting interconnectivity and operability between the laboratory and the EMR", states Jim Kasoff, Antek HealthWare Vice President.
Antek's role is to test live implementations of ELINCS and provide critical feedback to its application in ambulatory care settings.
"By implementing ELINCS, laboratory information systems can accelerate delivery of electronic lab results to physician EHRs, and improve clinical decision
making where care is provided." Jonah Frohlic, senior program officer with the California Healthcare Foundation's Health Information Technology program.
Antek HealthWare, LLC has been providing software solutions to the healthcare market since 1987.
Antek currently markets two healthcare applications. LabDAQ Laboratory Information System has been installed in over
1800 laboratories and is used by thousands of laboratory professionals and physicians every day. DAQbilling Medical
Billing Software is a software system for electronic medical billing and physician practice management. It provides practices with
full-featured practice management including scheduling, charge entry and detailed reporting.
