Antek HealthWare Supports Green Initiatives
Baltimore, MD – June 3, 2008 - More than 7 million people in the Baltimore-Washington region live in areas that exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) standards for ground-level ozone and particle pollution. Those most at risk are “sensitive groups” including children, older adults, and those with heart and lung conditions. These groups may experience greater health effects when the air quality reaches unhealthy levels at “Code Orange” and above.
Antek HealthWare and Clean Air Partners, a non-profit, public-private partnership committed to improving air quality in the Baltimore-Washington region for the past 10 years, have partnered to raise awareness about the health and environmental effects of poor air quality. Many of the voluntary actions Clean Air Partners encourages the public to take not only reduce ground-level ozone and particle pollution, but also have a direct effect on reducing greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, which contribute to climate change.
“Clean Air Partners and Antek have partnered together to improve the region’s air quality,” said Paul Taylor, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Antek HealthWare. “We encourage our employees and customers to sign up to receive Clean Air Partners’ daily AirAlerts, which includes a three-day air quality forecast and real-time health notifications, and implement the simple, voluntary actions in the Air Quality Action Guide. Together, the AirAlerts forecast and the Air Quality Action Guide can help reduce air pollution and protect public health when poor air quality days are expected.”
With the help and commitment of Antek HealthWare and other program members, Clean Air Partners has been able to educate millions of area residents about the importance of protecting our region’s air quality. “With the support of our members, Clean Air Partners can make a difference in the communities we live and work in,” said Tracye Funn, Chair of Clean Air Partners. “By joining Clean Air Partners, your organization and employees will be able to help us reduce air pollution and improve our region’s air quality, said Funn.”
